Monday Rain – A Poem

Monday Rain

Monday
rain falling soft
on the pavement.
A boy is splashing in puddles
excited
as his mom
places two wet pizza boxes
in the trunk.
I am left with myself
in my blue truck
fifty three dollars
just deposited in the bank
the smell of suburbia
in the bricks
of the strip mall
and summer
passing unheard
over the radio.
